Antique late 19th century Renaissance Revival buffet sideboard in mahogany, a handsome and well-proportioned piece of good quality, showcasing fine craftsmanship and bold carved decoration.
The upper tier has a pair of frieze drawers fitted with cast brass ring pulls on foliate backplates, flanked by carved roundel bosses, and is supported to the front on fluted columns with Ionic capitals over an open serving shelf.
Below, a pair of cupboard doors carved in deep relief with flowers and scrolling acanthus leaves within beaded borders are dressed with pierced brass strap mounts and brass ring handles, opening to a shelved interior.
The raised back is carved with a scrolling foliate frieze centred by an oval boss beneath a moulded cornice, and the base has fluted corner pilasters and a deep moulded plinth standing on turned bun feet. The mahogany displays an attractive grain and a warm, rich colour with a lovely mellow patina.
Presented in good condition commensurate with age. A very desirable carved buffet sideboard of compact proportions, a perfect addition to any dining room, kitchen or hallway.
