Antique early 20th century Edwardian open bookcase in oak, a handsome and well-proportioned piece of good quality, showcasing fine craftsmanship and a pleasingly simple, practical design.
The bookcase offers three generous open sections with two adjustable shelves resting on traditional sawtooth supports, so the spacing can be set to suit books, records, ornaments or display pieces.
It has a moulded top over a plain frieze, moulded front uprights, and the sides are cut to form shaped bracket feet at the front and back, with a pine boarded back.
The oak displays a lovely figured grain with medullary ray flashes to the frieze and sides, and a warm, rich colour with a mellow patina.
Presented in good condition commensurate with age, with some marks to the top consistent with use. A very desirable oak bookcase of practical proportions, a perfect addition to any study, living room, hallway or bedroom.
