Antique French sideboard in solid oak, in the Louis Philippe manner, a handsome and well-proportioned buffet of good quality, showcasing fine country craftsmanship.
The sideboard offers generous storage, with two frieze drawers set into the distinctive cushion moulded frieze above a pair of panelled cupboard doors. The interior is divided by a central upright, with a shelf to each side. The drawers have brass knob handles and the doors are fitted with shield shaped escutcheons.
The doors have fielded panels, and the stiles to either side are decorated with incised trailing flowers and foliage. The piece is raised on a stepped plinth base with shaped bracket feet, and the back is made of solid oak boards.
The oak displays a lovely figured grain with attractive medullary rays and a warm, rich colour, with a beautifully aged patina.
Presented in good condition. A very desirable French oak sideboard, perfect for any dining room, kitchen or hallway.
