Antique early 20th century Edwardian breakfront cabinet in mahogany, an impressive and well-proportioned piece of excellent quality, made in the Chippendale revival style and showcasing fine craftsmanship.
The upper section is fitted with a central glazed door with shaped astragal glazing bars, opening to a shelved interior, flanked by two cupboard doors, each opening to further shelved storage. The stand below is fitted with three frieze drawers with brass swan-neck handles on pierced rosette backplates.
The cornice has a carved gadrooned edge above a frieze of interlaced blind fretwork, and the side doors are decorated with oval flame mahogany panels within carved scalloped borders. It stands on square legs with pierced Chinese fretwork brackets, joined by shaped pierced cross stretchers. The back is panelled in the traditional manner.
The mahogany displays a stunning flame figure to the door panels with a warm, rich colour and a lovely aged patina.
The cabinet is constructed in two sections, the cabinet and the stand, for ease of transport. Presented in good condition, a very desirable piece, perfect for a dining room, sitting room or study.
