Antique 19th century Victorian whatnot cabinet in burr walnut, a charming and elegant piece of good quality, showcasing fine craftsmanship and beautifully chosen veneers.
The upper tier forms an open display shelf, while below is a cabinet enclosed by a glazed door with a burr walnut surround, opening to a useful interior ideal for music, books or treasured pieces.
The top is decorated with delicate marquetry inlay and crossbanding, and the piece is supported on finely turned columns, with pierced fretwork galleries to the lower tier, boxwood stringing to the sides, and turned feet on castors.
The burr walnut displays a stunning swirling figure and a warm, golden colour, complemented by the richly figured walnut panels to the sides and back.
Presented in good condition, it is a very desirable piece of compact proportions, perfect for a sitting room, study or hallway, and would make a wonderful addition to any home.
