Vintage 20th century Jacobean style writing desk in solid oak, a handsome and well-proportioned piece of good quality, showcasing traditional craftsmanship and a generous working surface.
The desk has five drawers in all: a central frieze drawer carved with an arcaded design over the kneehole, flanked by two drawers to each pedestal with moulded panel fronts, all fitted with rope twist ring handles.
The top has a moulded edge over a carved nulled frieze, and the desk stands on bobbin turned legs with square blocks, joined by a moulded H-stretcher. The back is panelled and finished, so the desk can stand freely in a room.
The oak displays an attractive grain and a deep, rich dark colour with a lovely warm patina.
Presented in good condition commensurate with age. A very desirable and practical oak desk, a perfect addition to any study, home office or bedroom.
