Vintage 20th century open bookcase in oak, a handsome and well-proportioned piece of good quality, showcasing fine craftsmanship in the traditional Jacobean manner and bearing a gold maker's label and a Made in England label to the back.
The bookcase offers six generous open sections with five adjustable shelves, so the spacing can be set to suit books, records, ornaments or display pieces.
It has a moulded cornice above a frieze carved with a band of lunettes and scrolling leaves, moulded front uprights, panelled sides, and stands on a moulded plinth base with a shaped and scalloped apron.
The oak displays a lovely figured grain and a warm, rich colour with a mellow patina.
Presented in good condition commensurate with age. A very desirable carved oak bookcase of generous proportions, a perfect addition to any study, living room, library or hallway.
