Vintage 20th century Georgian style chest of drawers in mahogany, a slender and elegant piece of good quality, made in the manner of an 18th century tall chest and showcasing fine craftsmanship.
The chest is fitted with two short drawers over five long graduated drawers, with a pull-out brushing slide set between them. The slide is inset with a green tooled leather surface with gilt decoration, ideal as a writing or dressing surface. The drawers are finished with Chippendale style brass swan-neck handles on pierced backplates.
The drawer fronts and top are veneered in flame mahogany with crossbanding and fine boxwood stringing, set above a moulded top edge. It stands on a moulded base with shaped bracket feet.
The mahogany displays a stunning flame figure to the top and drawer fronts with a warm, rich colour, contrasting with the straight-grained sides.
Presented in good condition, a very desirable narrow chest of drawers with plenty of storage in a small footprint, perfect for a bedroom, hallway or apartment.
