Antique early 19th century Georgian writing table in mahogany, an elegant and well-proportioned piece of good quality, showcasing fine craftsmanship of the late Georgian period.
It is fitted with two cockbeaded frieze drawers, each with turned wooden knob handles, offering useful storage for stationery and papers.
The top is framed by a raised three-quarter gallery with shaped ends and a moulded edge, keeping papers and books in place. It stands on four ring-turned tapering legs finished with their original brass cup castors, allowing it to be moved with ease.
The mahogany displays an attractive figured grain and a warm, rich colour with a lovely deep patina built up over many years.
With comfortable knee room and a good writing height, it works equally well as a desk, dressing table or console. Presented in good condition, a very desirable Georgian piece, perfect addition to any study, bedroom or hallway.
