Vintage 20th century telephone seat in solid oak, a handsome and characterful piece of good quality, showcasing fine craftsmanship and bold carved decoration. It bears its original factory label to the back, dated 1984 and naming the model as a telephone seat in oak.
The central recessed seat is framed by a gracefully curved top and flanked by a pair of cupboards, each enclosed by a door carved with an arched doorway and brickwork design and fitted with wrought iron strap hinges and ring handles. Beneath the seat is a full-width drawer with a carved arcaded front and a pair of ring pulls, and inside the cupboards there is ample space for directories, shoes or hallway essentials.
The sides are fielded and panelled, and the whole piece is raised on shaped trestle ends joined by a scalloped stretcher secured with pegged through-tenons, a lovely traditional detail.
The oak displays a lovely figured grain and a warm, rich medium colour.
Perfect for a hallway or landing, it is presented in good condition. A very desirable and practical piece and a great addition to any home.

Delivery is available throughout the UK mainland, including most areas of Scotland.
Each piece is carefully wrapped and protected prior to dispatch and delivered by our trusted private courier using a two-person team.
Your piece will be delivered to the room of your choice, provided there is suitable access. For items supplied in sections, assembly is not included as part of the delivery service.
Our standard delivery timeframe is approximately 3–15 working days from receipt of payment. The courier will contact you directly to confirm the delivery date and provide an approximate arrival time.
If you have any particular delivery requirements, please let us know before purchasing and we’ll do our best to accommodate them.
